Welcome to Paris
Not without reason, Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world. It’s just beautiful. And it is not an exaggeration to say that, whatever the season. The post-wedding session in Paris is a great idea. You’ll find everything here: beautiful parks, romantic alleys, bridges, palaces and of course, what you can not find anywhere else, namely the majestic Eiffel Tower.
For this reason, choosing the right place for a post-wedding session is very important. If you prefer the iconic views of Paris, choose the Place du Trocadero with its monumental architecture and its’ panorama of the city dominated by the Tower. On the other hand, if you are looking for more romantic and intimate places, you will find a perfect backdrop for extraordinary photos on the Montmartre hill or Île Saint-Louis. It all depends on the story you want to tell: that of your love. That’s why it’s important for your Parisian photographer to know your vision well. I have been working in Paris for several years and I know the city well. During the conversation with my clients, I learn about the style of their wedding, their first meeting and their interests.
Then I think about the scenario and I propose places where we could take pictures. Sometimes it’s the couple’s first stay in Paris, so a lot depends on good communication between us. In Paris, there is everything: just watch the number of films made here each year. With this city in the background, you can tell all the love stories you want.
Must-have
Honestly, who would make photos in Paris without the Eiffel Tower, at least a little in the background? Even the most “avant-garde” clients crack during the script and end up asking me to include the Tower. Fortunately, in addition to classic places, such as the Trocadero or Pont Alexandre III, a good photographer knows innumerable recesses with a more or less obvious view of the Iron Lady.
I often propose to start the session outside by more or less classic shots with the Tower. Then, depending on your temperament, your vision and the atmosphere you want to create in your gallery, we add other Parisian places to your session after the wedding.
Which other places are part of this range of emblematic views of Paris?
Of course, there is the Louvre with its’ courtyard and its’ glass pyramid, the Jardin des Tuileries, the banks of the Seine, the Notre-Dame cathedral, the Moulin Rouge; and bridges, such as the Alexander III Bridge, worshiped by couples around the world and Bir-Haikem – my favorite scenic bridge. These are just some examples of the hundreds (serious!) fantastic places that I can offer for your session after the wedding in Paris.
It all depends on the season you decide to come to Paris. In April, we will look for flourishing Japanese cherry trees behind Notre-Dame Cathedral. Summer, the weather is nice in the Jardin du Palais Royal. In autumn, my favorite places are the banks of the Seine and the Luxembourg Gardens. Even in December, Paris is incredible. A session after the wedding in winter, with the Christmas decorations and millions of lights on the Champs-Élysées – it must be a great success.
Session after the wedding in Paris. Organization
Start by contacting me to book a date. Write a few words about yourself and specify when you want to organize the session. Indicate if you need hairdressing or make-up services, if you want to order flowers, or any other special wishes. It is best to do it in advance, especially if you plan to come to Paris in the summer. During the wedding season, I do not organize sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning.
How to move in Paris?
Paris is a very friendly city for pedestrians. Many sessions are in walk, because the places are close to each other. Often, great photos are captured when on the move: a coffee break in a Parisian restaurant or an accidentally open gate that gives access to a mysterious courtyard. I have been doing photos in Paris for several years, but every time I discover something new. The couples are all different and each session is unique. In the case of Paris, it’s not just a cliché.
However, if the places you have chosen are far from each other – for example, Montmartre and the Luxembourg Garden – the best option will be to take a Kapten or the metro. It is also possible to rent a car with a driver, which would be the exclusive option.
In any case, do not forget to put on comfortable shoes. Posing in high heels, it’s very nice, but in the meantime, it’s better to walk in sneakers.
At what time is it best to start a session after the wedding?
The most beautiful photos are captured after sunrise and before sunset: during the “golden hour”. In general, I try to schedule the sessions so that the golden hour is included in the scenario. If you want to know what time the sun rises in Paris the day you plan your session, please use http://www.golden-hour.com/, it is a very useful site. Of course, I sometimes start sessions at other times: sometimes it depends on your availability or that of where you want to take your photos.
How long is the session after the wedding?
Book 3 hours if you want to have pictures in several cool places. Of course, it is possible to extend the session. Contact me to receive details and an exact quote.
